The Golden Age of Zeppelin

May 6, 1937 witnessed an air disaster that ended the era of commercial airship travel. Before that day German dirigibles ruled the air. The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum has collected rare color footage of the age of the airship that ended in the fiery crash of the Hindenburg at Lakehurst, New Jersey. This unique collection holds untold stories, of trips over the Andes and family vacations to Berlin Olympics of 1936. Set against the backdrop of a world heading toward the brink of disaster in World War II, The Golden Age of Zeppelins takes us back to a more peaceful time when airships were the cruise ships of the skies.

I watched it last night on TV and enjoyed learning more about these massive airships that flew all over the world. I was also quite interested in the new one that has recently been designed for our age. It is flatter and longer then the originals, but just as impressive. I would like to research it more- but cannot recall the name of it- can anyone assist me in that?

Thanks so much!
